[edit] Commentary
This is a very soulful song widely known and sung in Andhra. In this kirthana, Sri Ramadasa pleads for Lord’s mercy and declares that without Lord Rama’s compassion he will not be able to swim in this ocean of worldly concerns. He states in the 2nd stanza how he dedicated himself to Rama and sought refuge in him. He then blames himself as one who wandered around without paying heed to Rama (he implores that Rama was not listening to him as he may not have exhibited full faith in Him). Ramadasa then goes on to praise Rama’s qualities and in the final stanza requests His protection and support from worldly fears.
