[edit] Commentary
- 1vAkyArthamu nIvanu – Sri Thyagaraja states that the word ‘tat’ in the Mahavakya indeed refers to the Lord Sri Rama.
- 2tAmasa rAjasa - cf. Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 18, verses 65 and 66.
- Sri Thyagaraja seems to have deliberately left out the ‘sattva guNa’ because, as brought out in Srimad Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 14, verse 6, sattva guNa is conducive to enquiry which leads to ultimate apprehension of the truth.
- 3tannukOLLu – cf. Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 18, verse 11.
