[edit] Commentary
This is a very soulful song in which bhakta Ramadasu cries out as he was being beaten by the soldiers of the chieftain Tanisha asking for the money he spent making various ornaments to Sita, Rama, and his brothers in the temple in Bhadrachalam. He lists all the ornaments he got made for each of them and says each cost ten thousand varahas (major unit of money at that time). He asks Sri Rama ruefully whether these ornaments were got made by His father or sent by His father-in-law! He then apologizes to Sri Rama saying that he spoke to him accusingly as he was not able to bear the pain of the beatings he was receiving and asks Him not to mind his words. He then requests Sri Rama to take care of him as He is known to take care of His devotees. This Kriti, as listed in the book “Ramadasu Kirtanalu” published by Andhra Pradesh Sangeetha Nataka Academy, has 14 charanams. But only the six most popularly sung charanams are included in this page.
