Who is equal to the one who chants the names of Lord Hari by – (a) leaving aside different kinds of thoughts, (b) being firmly devoted to the Lord, and (c) cutting asunder stubborn differentiation of sects? 2. Who is equal to the one who chants the names of Lord Hari by – (a) fervently desiring the Lord melting in the mind, (b) establishing the feet of the Lord Hari in the heart, and (c) considering devotion to be the wealth from the very mouth of the blessed sage Suka? 3. Who is equal to the one who chants the names of Lord Hari by considering – (a) the company of those who do not know this comfort (of chanting names) to be indeed a poison of snake Vasuki, and also a furnace, and (b) conversation with true devotees to be the real strength? 4. - 1hariyanuvAni – hariyanuvAri - From the wordings of CharaNa 4, where Sri Thyagaraja uses the word ‘nI’ (Your), it is obvious that the Kriti is addressed to his mind. Therefore, ‘vAni’ seems to be more appropriate.
- 5balimi – balimin : balimi - seems to be appropriate.

- 2malayani – This is how it is given in all the books. In some books, this has been translated as ‘useless’; in other books, as ‘discordant’. However, both meanings are not available in the dictionary. The root word seems to be ‘malagu’ or ‘malugu’ meaning ‘bend’. It has accordingly been translated.
- 3mata – SaNmata - worship of – viSNu, ziva, zakti, sUrya, gaNapati, kumAra.
- 4zuka mukha – this may be translated as 'Suka and other important persons’; however, as Srimad-Bhagavatam was propounded by sage Suka, this has been translated as ‘from the very mouth of sage Suka’.
- 6nI japamuna hRdayamu vEga rAjillanu jEsina – the word ‘nI’ would refer to the mind of Thyagaraja; otherwise, if it is applied to the Lord, then a proper meaning cannot be derived for the Charana.
