[edit] Commentary
- Kshetram - Mayavaram
- 1hari sAyaka- Shiva during his slaying of tripurAsura used Vishnu as his bow. In addition, tripura also refers to the 3 evils of aham(ego), karma(deeds and their effects) and mAya(delusion).
- 2dhImkAra- dhIh means intelligence but does not derive the word dhImkAra accurately. There is a mantra to Rudra that goes as Aum dhAm dhIm dHUm dharmanAthAya. Hence it could be assumed that this line refers to a bIjAkshara, an originating syllable.
- 4nAga liGga bhaktAbhISTa prada- The interpretation of this phrase is unclear as to whether it refers to some notable bhakta named Nagalinga specified in the temple's hagiography or if it is to be split as Nagalinga, who fulfils the desires of his devotees. There are no stories or folklore showing the Lord to have protected a devotee by this name. The same devotee has been referred to in the kalyANi krithi abhayAmba jagadambA composed in praise of Goddess abhayAmbA at the same kSetra.
- 5Ananda bhairavI- A direct incorporation of the rAga mudra while simultaneously referring to Goddess abhayAmbA.
- 6tApa traya- This refers to the triple afflictions of the soul of the 3 realms - AdhyAtmika(internal), Adhidhaivika(divine) and Adhibhauthika(physical) that hinder a soul's progress
